    Filing a Roofing Insurance Claim

Protecting your home has never been easier with Jenkins.

The Jenkins 5-Step Guide to Filing a Roof Insurance Claim

    STEP 1

    GET A FREE ROOF INSPECTION

Call Jenkins Roofing to come out and provide you with our honest opinion of what damage exists.

    STEP 2

    CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY

An insurance adjuster will come out to inspect the damage. We will walk the property with them as an advocate for you to make sure everything that is damaged is addressed.

    STEP 3

    REVIEW OUR ROOF CLAIM

We will provide an attractive estimate to fix the agreed upon damages and show you the materials we will utilize to assure long term satisfaction. You will receive an initial check from the insurance company immediately after your roof is deemed to be damaged beyond the deductible amount. This will be a check for your roof’s replacement cost minus depreciation and your deductible. You will receive the depreciation amount a week or so after the work is completed.

    STEP 4

    ROOF REPAIR/REPLACEMENT

AFTER the work is completed, we will collect the initial check you were provided from your insurance company, and send over a certificate of completion to you and your insurance claims professional. They will then release the final Depreciation check (assuming you have a replacement cost policy) which will arrive about 1 week or so after we are done.

    STEP 5

    YOU’RE COVERED

Jenkins Roofing will professionally warranty all new roofs for 10 years for any workmanship issues. Our shingle manufacturer we use will provide you with a limited lifetime warranty on your shingles (transferrable once).

    Insurance Claim FAQs

Is it ever too hot, or too cold to roof?

As long as the weather is dry and above 50 degrees, we will be able to install the roof to our quality standards and apply our 10 year workmanship warranty. There is no such thing as a bad month to get your shingle roof replaced as long as the weather is not too cold.

Should I wait until later in the year?

We find some customers have issues where they waited too long and saw their insurance deadline of 1 year pass them by as life took over and they forgot, as opposed to customers having another hail storm total their roof in the next several years. New roofs with new granules are very hail resilient. We also find that some customers wait long enough to the point where we see the roof start leaking from the damage, sometimes bringing mold along with it if it is not readily visible, which is never good. Finally, material prices have been rising often enough over the last year that we believe that weather permitting, there is no time like the present to get the work done.

How much will a re-roof cost me?

Assuming you have property insurance, the damage will often be covered by your insurance provider and all you will be responsible for is your deductible. We regularly help our customers to get a beautiful roof installed with a long-term warranty. We also have financing available for those that need it.

What about the non-roof related items that have damage? (Windows, Screens, Siding, Fence Staining, Painting, etc.)

Our company has helped thousands of customers over the years with dozens of non-roof related needs that arise. We can act as a one stop shop to make your life easy, and repair the other damaged items for you feel you would like for us to do so.

What roof upgrades do people typically look into when re-roofing their home?

Roofing Material –Refer to the Residential Roof Showroom to view materials used. Impact Resistant shingles or stone coated metal roofing panels are popular upgrade options. Attic Ventilation –Upgrade to use Ridge Vent or install an Attic Breeze Solar vent or new power vents to move more air. Underlayment –Synthetic Felt or Foil Faced Underlayment can be a better solution as opposed to organic felt. Valley Protection –Stormguard Ice & Watershield provides excellent protection around penetrations and in valleys. Skylights –Adding, or replacing skylights with energy efficient hail resistant VELUX skylights. Gutters & Downspouts –To allow for more flow, we often install gutters at 5” or 6” gutters along with larger 3×4 downspouts. Gutter Guards –Wire mesh gutter guards keep your gutters clear of debris. We can also upgrade to stainless steel. Chimney Cap / Shroud –A beautiful topper to your chimney, can be customized to fit your design style.
